The production team behind the new comedy web series, “Strange Creatures of the Adult Wilderness”, has announced that post-production for the first episode is wrapping up and that it will drop in early 2023.
Filmed in Chicago, the nine-episode series chronicles the struggles of a newly-minted college graduate as he tries to make sense of his employment options, older women, and visits to the dentist. But that’s only the springboard.
Said the series writer and director, Todd Wells, “We wanted to have some fun with that familiar motif of a 20-something facing an obstacle course of clueless adults. So we looked behind the curtain and, lo and behold, those adults are simply tangled up in their own obstacle courses. Muddling through – it’s the oldest profession.”
The main character in the series is played by Ben Locke, an ensemble member of Chicago’s Bramble Theater. Assistant Director, Mireillee Lamourt, described Locke’s performance as adding a surprising punch to the story. “Ben didn’t advertise himself as a comic actor, so the dynamism he brought to the role caught us all by surprise. We almost lost a couple takes because he made us laugh in places where we didn’t see it coming.”
“We have a great group of actors lined up to play more strange creatures in the upcoming episodes,” said Wells, “Ben’s character will have no shortage of weirdos to deal with.”
